Located near Matagalpa, Nicaragua, in the heart of a region that enjoys an ideal climate for coffee cultivation, the "Finca Chispa de Oro" farm is spread along the slopes of "La Chispa" Mountain, which means "Astonishing" or "Spark." The mountain stands over 1,200 meters high, promoting slow coffee maturation in the shade of trees and amidst a bamboo plantation, which is among the most diverse in America with more than 14 varieties of bamboo on the same farm. Indeed, this is also a bamboo farm, with the bamboo intended for use in producing ecological charcoal and building materials. Notably, the dryers on the farm have been constructed out of bamboo.
The farm diversifies its crops with new coffee varieties each year. Spanning nearly 15 hectares, only a portion of the land is cultivated to preserve the original forest and water sources.
Finca Chispa de Oro employs four full-time workers and about ten pickers during the season. All workers and their families live nearby.
