The Federation of Indigenous and Ecological Cooperatives of Chiapas was established by farmer groups from Tzotzil, Tzeltal, Mame, Chuj, and Zoque communities. The cooperative boasts a membership of over 3,300 individuals, primarily comprising indigenous farmers and their families. Each producer is responsible for their own wet milling process and drying the coffee on their personal patios before delivering it to the cooperative. Since its inception, FESICH has implemented a renovation program, established a nursery that now houses more than two million coffee plants, and offers training programs for leaf rust treatment. Furthermore, producer members have access to financing tailored for small-scale producers.
